Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities

The Hometown Foundation, Inc. began with a mission to raise money for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities here are some of the things we have done since then.

  • Hosted the Dream Ride Experience, inviting hundreds of people in the IDD community from all over the world to be a part of our event
  • Drove hundreds of Dream Riders in supercars through our Dream Cruise each year
  • Raised $97,750 through our Reach for the Stars retailer program since 2016
  • Provide travel experiences such as trips to New York and Boston to our International Dream Riders during their visit to Dream Ride

Reach For the Stars

In conjunction with our partnering retail stores, The Hometown Foundation, Inc. annually hosts our Reach for the Stars retailer-based fundraising campaign to support individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities to be a part of The Dream Ride Experience.

International Ambassador's Program

The Hometown Foundation has an international presence spanning across multiple borders, including Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain. We bring communities together allowing our Dream Riders to become ambassadors across international borders. The International Ambassador’s Program allows Dream Riders the opportunity to represent their country across global borders, while expanding their leadership skills.

Equine Skills Program

The Hometown Foundation partners with The Farmington Polo Club to offer our year-round Equine Skills Program. Our interactive Equine Skills Program program offers a professional hands-on experience that focuses on improving lives for those with disabilities from diverse backgrounds in an enriching and inclusive environment.

Dream Rider Training Facility

The Hometown Foundation's sister property, the Farmington Polo Club, serves as an on-site training facility to Dream Riders. The 80 acre property offers Dream Ridersthe opportunity to expand and enhance their skillset while preparing for their athletic competitions.

Our Initiatives

Adaptive Activities at The Dream Ride Experience
Adaptive Activities at The Dream Ride Experience

Throughout the Dream Ride Experience weekend, The Hometown Foundation offers our Dream Riders the opportunity to participate in Adaptive Activities. This initiative allows Dream Riders with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to be included on sports teams, engage in sports training to boost their confidence, improve their health, and socialize with their peers, while building lasting relationships.

Dream Ride Racing

Dream Ride Racing was founded in 2019 in partnership with Mainely Motorsports alongside IGA retailers in both Maine and New Hampshire. Dream Ride Racing has two cars in its fleet, a SK Modified Race Car and a Super Late Model Race Car that were both built by individuals with intellectual disabilities and Dream Riders. Both cars are raced all summer long with all winnings donated back to The Hometown Foundation, Inc. To date, Dream Ride Racing has raised over $50,000 for The Hometown Foundation, Inc.

The Dream Ride Experience
The Dream Ride Experience

The Dream Ride Experience is the signature event of The Hometown Foundation, Inc.'s Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities or In Need pillar. Over the course of the years, thousands have joined the #DreamRide365 movement and helped make an impact on so many lives. Each summer, supporters venture to Farmington, Connecticut all with one common goal of choosing to include.

Dream Ride Australia

The Hometown Foundation partners with The Romeo Foundation to host Dream Ride Australia, which is a day-long event that welcomes hundreds of attendees who are given the opportunity to enjoy the day with a car show, highlighting hundreds of cars, food trucks, carnival rides, games, and more!

Cars & Cocktails
Cars & Cocktails

The Cars & Cocktails Gala is one of The Hometown Foundation, Inc.'s largest annual fundraising events held at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This unforgettable event draws an attendance of hundreds of community members, business leaders, as well as first responders, all coming together for a charitable cause.

Ride for Ian

The Hometown Foundation teamed up with Ocean State Harley-Davidson and Ocean State HOG Chapter to present Ride for Ian to honor the legacy of Ian Novacek, a 12 year old Dream Rider who lived with achondroplasia. Ian touched the lives and hearts of more people in 12 years than most people do in a lifetime.

The Hometown Foundation partners with Special Olympics Maine, Special Olympics New Hampshire, Maine IGA retailers, and the Portland Sea Dogs Minor League Baseball Team to bring over 500 Special Olympics athletes to enjoy a day at the ball park.

Sock Hop

The Hometown Foundation partners with Papa’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Special Olympics Connecticut to hold an evening of dancing, food, raffles, entertainment, and more! Held annually at the Papa’s showroom, guests are joined by Special Olympics athletes for a classic car show, dinner, and fun.
