As an integral aspect of law enforcement, Police K-9s and their handlers help make their communities safer. These Police K-9s can apprehend suspects, detect drugs and explosives, locate missing people, and even help find crime scene evidence. Despite the essential role that Police K-9s offer law enforcement, in many states and municipalities these programs are not funded by their local governments, which means they heavily rely on private donations.
Across the country, The Hometown Foundation, Inc. has joined forces with police departments and businesses to raise funds for the purchase and donation of Police K-9s, as well as to support them with vital safety equipment and training.
There are many ways to become involved, here are just a few!
Host A Fundraiser – Volunteer to host a fundraiser at your restaurant or place of business.
Blue Jeans For Blue Paws – Organize a day for your office to dress down to support K-9 Officers.
Donation Box – Businesses across the state have partnered with us by placing donation boxes next to their registers to raise money for their local Police K-9 Units. All proceeds will directly benefit K-9 Units in your community- through the purchase and donation of Police K-9s, as well as to support them with vital safety equipment and training opportunities.
Sponsorship – The Hometown Foundation, Inc. offers many levels of K-9 Sponsorship. From donating a fully outfitted Police K-9, to supporting a K-9 already on the force with much needed safety equipment and training, there is a sponsorship level for everyone.
Project Blue Paw – Project Blue Paw strives to educate children in the community, including those with special needs, on how to appropriately interact with police dogs. This interactive program teaches kids about the importance of Police K-9 Officers and what their jobs entail. In addition to active duty K-9 Officers and their handlers, students will also be able to meet K-9 puppies in training and hear from experts in emergency animal care.
