What We Do

At The Hometown Foundation, Inc. we recognize the importance of our military and appreciate their dedication to our country. They help keep us safe every day and we can never thank them enough for all that they do. Here at the foundation, we provide emotional and physical support by honoring fallen members through the donation of Police K-9s as well as donating PTSD dogs to veterans.

How We Do It

PTSD and K-9s

One of our programs is our Police K-9 initiative. This is where we donate K-9s to local and state police departments who are in need of them. The K-9s are always named after a fallen police officer or military personnel. It is important to remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and this is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to them.

In some cases, the K-9 assigned to a specific department isn’t the perfect fit. If this is the case, we then donate the K-9 to a veteran or active duty personnel who is stricken with PTSD. Post traumatic stress disorder hurts more people than we think so our goal is to identify those people and help them as much as we can.

Initiatives and Events

VETS Rock at Mohegan Sun

VETS Rock is an annual event that helps connect and integrate veterans and active duty members of the military. This one-of-a-kind event features a hiring fair, networking opportunities and workshops for a variety of veterans and military members. VETS Rock is tailored for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, guard and reserve members and military families. The Hometown Foundation, Inc. is an integral part and proud sponsor of the VETS Rock event and we will continue to show our support for years to come. At this event, we actively look for veterans to join our team at The Hometown Foundation, Inc. and Bozzuto’s Inc.

VA Connecticut Fisher House

The Fisher House of Connecticut houses military families when their loved ones are in the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital. The Fisher House gives families the ability to be within close proximity while their family members are in treatment at no cost. The Hometown Foundation, Inc. hosts various fundraisers to benefit the Fisher House of Connecticut. We strongly believe that family comes first and our goal is to do all that we can to keep families together when times are tough. No family should go through the fear of not being together when a loved one is sick.

Our Goal

In the future we hope to continue our support for active duty members and veterans through our K-9 donations, PTSD dog donations and fundraising events to increase support for veterans, military individuals and families. We look forward to increasing our involvement with the military community each and every day to help support those who serve our country daily.
